After multiple trips to the costume shop and hours of applying makeup, don't let your child's Halloween night be ruined by a fall, bad candy or any other haunted holiday hazard. The trick to making Halloween safe for your child is treating it like any trip: Plan a route, dress appropriately, supply everything you might need and inspect all souvenirs. ....

Rupert Grint just passed his driving test. He'd failed once before, he admits. Now, finally, he can take his new, black Mini Cooper out for a spin. "I can't wait to get on the road," he says. And not to worry -- he's a much better driver in real life than he is on film, he assures. He would have to be. As Ben -- a shy, gangly teenager growing up in a repressed, religious household -- he grinds gears, lurches forward and back and runs over curbs and shrubs, all in the first few minutes of Driving Lessons, an independent film from first-time British director Jeremy Brock. The movie opened Friday at Delray 18, Shadowood 16 in Boca Raton and Sunrise 11. Grint, 18, is known to a generation of moviegoers as Harry Potter's red-headed, chess-loving sidekick, Ron Weasley....

Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) recently spoke with Surrey Life about himself and filming the Harry Potter films. He has placed a copy of the interview on his official site. Here are some excerpts:Obviously the scenes arent shot in sequence and filming lasts so long that when I see it my first thought is wheres the rest of it? And sometimes Im thinking oh yes, the next bit is really good but then it doesnt happen or is somewhere else in the action.I love spending time at home with my friends. On a Friday night youll find nine or ten of us sitting having a game of cards. I love cards: poker is favourite at the moment, he admits. But Im a country boy. Bully, bathos, and bringing the next level

So we've had a day or two to ponder Bully, the upcoming Rockstar title. The reader comments around here have skewed generally in favor of not treating the game like a sign of the apocalypse, though I did get a press release from a UK anti-bullying charity calling for a ban. It's one of the joys of my job that every now and then someone sends a press release saying something like, "We don't think this game is likely to leave players with a warm and fuzzy feeling," and they're talking about something like a Rockstar game, and you're grateful to your personal deity that you work from home and aren't in a meeting where the person quoted might see you laughing so hard you have to clean your glasses afterwards. I digress, but only a little. "A warm and fuzzy feeling?" What the heck? I play Sudoku to clear my head; I play various sims to problem-solve; I play Afterlife for practice; I play shooters to blow off steam; I play Wario to kill time; I play them all to amuse myself....

Potters rock the library

Harry Potter, and rock n' roll. Two staples of today's pop culture that most wouldn't necessarily associate with each other. Wizard rockers Harry and the Potters aim to change that. Brothers Paul and Joe DeGeorge started the band in 2002, penning seven songs of their first self-titled album over the course of an hour and then performing them for a crowd in their own backyard in Boston. The group's literary punk rock has attracted a lot of attention. They perform not at concert halls or auditoriums, but at libraries and bookstores. They manage to be squeaky clean and edgy at the same time, advocating libraries and reading and encouraging the audience to “stick it to the man" by rocking out. The DeGeorge brothers have stated that Harry and the Potters serves a number of purposes, including getting kids to read and exposing them to new musical ideas....
